Today (25th) will be a day worth remembering forever in the history of civil aviation in New China. The commissioning ceremony of Beijing Daxing International Airport will be held in the morning.
Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, President of the State, and Chairman of the Central Military Commission attended the ceremony and announced: "Beijing Daxing International Airport is officially put into operation!"
As a new source of power for the country's development, what exactly is Beijing Daxing International Airport like? Look down from the sky and see its style.
The airport looks like a phoenix from the sky
With the terminal building as the core, extending to the surroundings, looking down from the air, Beijing Daxing International Airport is like a phoenix with wings spread out, it is mainly composed of the terminal area, flight area, integrated transportation center and other parts.
The core area of the terminal building, where passengers check in-departure and arrival. Its roof adopts a steel grid structure, which is assembled by 63450 rods and 12,300 ball nodes, which forms an irregular free-form surface space when viewed from the air.
Corridor: 8 minutes walk to the farthest boarding gate
With the core area of the terminal as the center, five corridors extend to the northeast, southeast, central south, southwest, and northwest respectively, leading to the flight area of Beijing Daxing International Airport. This design extends from the center to all directions, so that the distance from the center of the terminal building to the farthest boarding gate is only about 600 meters, and it only takes 8 minutes for passengers to walk.
From the north side of the main building of the terminal building, there is also a corridor. This is a comprehensive building. Together with the terminal building and the five-point corridor, it forms a stable and symmetrical overall configuration.
Flight zone: Seven runways are planned in the long-term
The flight area of Beijing Daxing International Airport has seven runways planned in the long term, four runways were put into use in the early stage, and the configuration of three vertical and one horizontal is adopted for the first time, with a total of 83 near positions, 67 far positions and slow pressure positions.
There are five floors above ground in the terminal building of Beijing Daxing International Airport, with double departure and double arrival. There are two underground floors, the first underground is the station hall floor, and the second underground is the platform floor. Passengers can directly transfer to various modes of travel such as civil aviation, high-speed rail, and rail transit in the terminal building.
"Daxing Airport has created more than 40 international and domestic firsts, with a localization rate of over 98%, a project acceptance rate of 100%, and all 13 key construction indicators have reached world-class levels." said Liu Chunchen, Director of the Airport Department of the Civil Aviation Administration of China. .

At present, the "five vertical and two horizontal" comprehensive transportation network on the periphery of Daxing Airport is gradually being connected. High-speed railways, intercity railways, urban rails, expressways and other forms of transportation guarantee one-hour access to Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei. Departing from Caoqiao Station in the City Terminal, it takes only 19 minutes to arrive by Daxing International Airport Line; from Beijing West Railway Station, take the Jingxiong Intercity Train, which takes more than 20 minutes; Pass through Daxing Airport, Daxing Airport North Line, and Jingkai Many expressways such as Beijing-Taiwan and Capital Ring can reach the airport directly. It takes about 20 minutes by car from the South Fifth Ring Road to the terminal... Beijing-Xiong Intercity Railway, Metro Daxing Airport Line, Metro R4 Line, Metro Reserved Line 16 tracks, including the intercity railway connection line, pass through the Daxing Airport terminal. In the future, the large-capacity public transportation capacity of Daxing Airport will reach more than 50%, of which rail transit will account for more than 30%.
After arriving at the airport, the efficient and smooth connection service is seamlessly connected to the transportation system. The walking distance from the center of the terminal building to the farthest boarding gate in the core area of the terminal building is no more than 600 meters, and the walking time is only 8 minutes. From check-in to boarding, we realized one-stop full self-service paperless processing, with more than 400 self-service check-in and self-service check-in equipment, and the self-service coverage rate reached 80%. The self-service security screening system is 40% higher than the traditional security inspection channel. Daxing Airport is also the first large-scale international hub airport to use a localized automatic baggage handling and information management system. The average transport distance of incoming baggage is 550 meters, and the first incoming baggage can arrive within 13 minutes.
Seven domestic airlines including China Southern Airlines, Eastern Airlines, Air China, China United Airlines, Hebei Airlines, Capital Airlines, and Juneyao Airlines, and eight foreign airlines including British Airways, Polish Airlines, Finnair, and Malaysia Airlines, are scheduled for winter and spring 2019 After the flight season (October 27), they will be stationed at Daxing Airport. Among them, China Southern Airlines, Eastern Airlines, and Air China will also start "two simultaneous operations" status. In addition, as of now, a total of 66 airlines intend to settle in Daxing Airport, and airlines' flight schedules are being approved one after another.
After the start of the 2019 winter and spring season, Daxing Airport is expected to open 116 routes, including 101 domestic routes and 15 international routes; covering 112 destinations worldwide, including 97 domestic destinations and 15 international destinations.
Beijing Airlines enters the era of dual hubs
According to the North China Air Traffic Management Bureau, Beijing Daxing International Airport was officially put into operation, marking that Beijing’s aviation operation has entered the era of dual hubs. The Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region has one terminal area, two cities, and three tens of millions of airports. The pattern of unified and coordinated command of the Air Traffic Control Bureau has taken shape.
Beijing Daxing International Airport crosses the Daxing District of Beijing and Langfang City, Hebei Province. The straight-line distance from Tiananmen Square is 46 kilometers, 67 kilometers from the Capital Airport, 65 kilometers from Xiong'an New District, and 75 kilometers from Tianjin City.
The airport is constructed in two phases. In the first phase, 4 runways will be built, covering an area of 27 square kilometers. The annual cargo and mail volume is designed to be 2 million tons and the annual passenger volume is 72 million.
In the long run, by 2040, it will reach 7 runways, occupying an area of 68 square kilometers, with an annual cargo and mail volume of 4 million tons, and a passenger volume of more than 100 million passengers. By then, it will become the world's largest hub airport.
Daxing International Airport was approved by the National Development and Reform Commission in November 2014, and construction officially started at the end of the year. The overall project was completed in June 2019, and was put into operation on September 25, 2019.

"Three vertical and one horizontal" runway design
According to the North China Air Traffic Management Bureau, the "three vertical and one horizontal" omnidirectional runway of Beijing Daxing International Airport is an unprecedented breakthrough in the multi-runway system of Chinese airports.
Especially the "one horizontal" design fully considers the geographical location of Beijing Daxing International Airport, the relationship between the airport and the surrounding airspace and operating environment, and strives to maximize the efficiency of aviation operations by rationally planning the azimuth and layout of the runway.
Yan Xiaodong, deputy director of the North China Air Traffic Management Bureau Daxing Air Traffic Control Center, said that under normal circumstances, when a runway is used for mixed take-off and landing of aircraft, it can take about 30 flights an hour.
The horizontal runway of Beijing Daxing International Airport will be mainly used for the departure and take-off of flights to Northeast China, Dalian Qingdao, East China, North America, South Korea, and Japan. Theoretically speaking, when the conditions of all parties are met, this one On the runway, more than 60 departure flights can be cleared in one hour, and the operation efficiency of the airport will be greatly improved.
In addition, the horizontal runway of Beijing Daxing International Airport can also effectively alleviate the potential conflict between the airport’s departure flight and the capital airport’s inbound flight flow.
In this regard, Yan Xiaodong explained, “The flow of flights landing at the Capital Airport is on the upper right side of Daxing Airport. The horizontal runway of Daxing Airport can allow outbound flights to flow down the inbound flights from the Capital Airport and reduce the detours of flights departing eastward. Improve operational efficiency."
Air traffic control supporting project has the largest scale in history
According to the North China Air Traffic Management Bureau, the air traffic control supporting project of Beijing Daxing International Airport is the largest civil aviation control system in the history of construction, using the most new technologies, and the highest engineering quality standards.
Accurate air traffic control navigation equipment has also allowed Beijing Daxing International Airport to set a new record for low-visibility takeoffs and landings at Chinese airports-taking the lead in realizing a nationwide flight, with a head-up display of 75 meters of runway visual range (HUD RVR75) for take-off and Class III B The operational capability of the instrument landing system can ensure that Beijing Daxing International Airport can take off and land under low visibility conditions of about 50 meters.
In addition, Beijing Daxing International Airport has also adopted the Advanced Surface Movement Guidance and Control System (A-SMGCS). According to Xie Yulan, chief engineer of the North China Air Traffic Management Bureau, this is a system that complies with the International Civil Aviation Organization's four-level operating standards, and is also the first domestic system with four-level operating standards, which is at the leading level in the world.
Xie Yulan said that in general, this system can actively manage aircraft and vehicles in the apron and taxiway areas, automatically plan driving routes, detect intersection conflicts, generate avoidance plans, and finally pass the three presets on the road surface. More than 10,000 traffic lights indicate the walking route for pilots and pilots, and realize the safe and efficient operation of on-the-spot traffic within the flight maneuvering area, and play an important role in saving time on ground taxiing.
In addition, when encountering extreme weather, the guide car and taxiway signs are not even visible from the cockpit, the eye-catching advanced ground guidance lights can let the pilots find the way forward and ensure the smooth operation of Beijing Daxing International Airport under low visibility.
HUDRVR 75-meter take-off, Class IIIB approach and landing, and A-SMGCS level four standard operation, these three technologies are the first applications in China.

In 2021, the Beijing terminal area will have an average of 2,900 daily flights
The smooth opening of Beijing Daxing International Airport marked the formal formation of the "two cities and three games" pattern in the Beijing-Tianjin area.
One terminal area, two cities, and three tens of millions of airports, this is the first time in the history of civil aviation in China.
According to the North China Air Traffic Management Bureau, since 2015, the CAAC Air Traffic Management Bureau has planned and coordinated as a whole, and the five regional air traffic control bureaus of North China, East China, Central South, Northeast and Northwest China have coordinated and completed the Beijing Daxing International Airport in four years. Airport supporting airspace adjustment plan.
A total of 29 civil aviation airports across the country have adjusted their flight procedures accordingly.
The area of airspace under the jurisdiction of the Beijing Terminal Control Area has expanded to 34,500 square kilometers, nearly twice the area of the current Beijing Terminal Control Area.
The number of civil aviation runways in the new terminal area has been increased from 3 to 9, and the number of entry and departure points in the terminal area has changed from 7 in and 9 out to 8 in and 10 out.
Large jurisdictional airspace, complex operating environment, and large number of flights are the most notable features of the Beijing terminal area.
The North China Air Traffic Management Bureau said that it is expected that by 2021, the Beijing terminal area will have an average of 2,900 flights per day, making it the busiest terminal control area in the country.
Ma Jinhai, Director of the Air Traffic Control Center of the North China Air Traffic Management Bureau, said, "A single terminal control center will coordinate and command the'two cities and three games', which can better leverage synergies, reduce handover links, communicate more smoothly, and better improve operational efficiency.
